Caution – West Nile Virus found in area

Five mosquito pools in Springfield tested positive for West Nile Virus recently. WNV is considered widespread in Vermont, and is spread through the bite of infected mosquitos. Most people who contract it will suffer from a flu-like illness, but some can become seriously ill with neurological symptoms. Treatment is supportive. Therefore, everyone should take precautions to avoid mosquito bites, especially on these lovely summer evenings.
